A go kart frame plan that takes into account a rolling cage can be safe but heavy

The first step in any project is to create and revise the go kart frame plan. There are as many go kart frames designs as there are gokart types, we will be focusing on what are the advantages and disadvantages of a caged go kart frame. In the karting world, these frames are known as roll cages because they can protect you if for some reason your cart starts rolling. Plan ahead and think if your go-kart riding presents any risk of ending up in a not so desirable rolling situation. This might include hard core racing or off road venturing. A rolling cage might be mandatory on some kart-racing classes while not in others, it usually depends on the terrain and speeds that you can reach in a particular class.

A frame with a cage can represent a burden when it comes to reaching higher speeds. Any frame modification you apply to your kart usually means adding up more total weight. This can be a downer if you want to make a certain class or if you’re concerned with nothing else but speed. In the other hand, having this frame welded can prevent you from flying off the kart if you happen to have an accident of proportional measures. In off-roading usually having a cage welded on the frame is a good idea because of the higher probability of rolling down a hill.
