Follow the 8 steps covered in any set of free go kart building instructions

Any set of free go kart building instructions follow more or less the same workflow. Free gocart plans are usually comprised of 8 fundamental steps which include: Wheels and tires, steering components and axle, brakes system, rear wheels and pedals, engine and clutch setup, chain and sprockets, throttle, seat installation and precaution mechanisms. That said, building a go kart is as simple as getting a kit and following the instructions.

To start building the kart, start by attaching the front wheels onto the frame. This is usually done via a spindle for the front wheels. Follow the instruction that comes in the go kart’s manual so you get things right. Next, you want to install the steering components. To do this, you must build the steering system which consists of many parts. Essentially tie rods connect to the spindle via swivel joints. The tie rods themselves connect to the steering shaft which is securely attached to the gokart frame. Finally the steering shaft is connected to the steering wheel via a hub which should be able to turn the wheels.

Follow the braking system instructions carefully before going on. There are three types of pedals that can come with your vehicle: band, disc or drum brakes. Once you finish with the brakes, install the brake and gas pedals, being careful to know which one is which because they can be confusingly similar. Once you get the pedals installed test them to see if everything is ok.

Mount the engine with the proper nuts and bolts till the engine is secure in place. Next attach the chain and sprockets to the engine’s motor and axle to complete the drive system. Finally secure the seat in place and before driving your cart make sure oil, tire inflation and gas levels are in check.
