Go-kart disc breaks: make your kart stop like the pros!

So, you got yourself a true asphalt speed machine equipped with an engine of 6 HP or more, then it’s time to consider upgrading to go-kart disc breaks. Go kart brakes can be any of three traditional types of breaks: band, drum or disc. Band brakes, the simplest type of breaks, are those found in soft-core riding applications such as bikes or fun karts. A drum brake setup is tougher than simple band breaks, but not as powerful as a disc break setup. Considering that disc breaks are used for regular sized cars, you can imagine that they’re more than necessary to make a go-kart stop. With go-karts averaging speed around 40 MPH, disc brakes can be expected to easily do the job and last for very long periods of time.

Go-karts equipped with disc breaks are easy to maintain in top condition. All you have to do is check regularly that the brake’s friction pads aren’t worn out. Most braking systems are conveniently equipped with wear indicators that are those things that make your kart screech when you stomp on the brakes. Once you hear that annoying signal it means that the discs need friction pad replacements. A more unusual case in which the brakes need replacement is when the rotor wears out. This results when the pads aren’t replaced and the piston starts eating through the rotor, making it thinner and more vulnerable with each use. With the right go kart parts you need not to worry about replacing too often.
