gocart bodys and engines

Maximize the performance of your ride by balancing gocart bodys and engines

When immersing yourself in a kart building project, be careful to clearly understand the relationship between gocart bodys and engines. To help you understand this just take into account the cumbersome weight that engines already bring up by themselves. Weight distribution is often overlooked when designing a gocart: engine, body and driver weight must all fit into the equation of speed optimization. Not only can engine weight present itself as an issue, engine power is also a big factor when making gocart building decisions. Be sure to construct or buy a body that will support any types of engines that you plan on using. It’s not the same thing for a gocart body to be powered by a 6 HP engine than it is to be powered up by a 12 HP engine.

Bodies for gocarts are available from many different manufacturers. Some provide off-road bodies, while others provide racing bodies. On the feature or specs sheet of each gocart body you should be able to inform yourself about how a powerful engine the frame can resist. If you’re using a common lawnmower engine then it might not be too much of an issue for that these engines don’t have too much power. Like mentioned before, take note of the frame’s weight as well, add this up to your body weight and calculate the power to weight ratio to know how you’re doing.
