Honda elite 50cc2 cycle: Possible adaptation to a go kart project?

The Honda elite 50cc 2 cycle engine became famous for powering up single passenger Honda scooters. A 50cc Honda engine is fairly powerful, being a 2 cycle engine may be the minimum requirement to get some speed out of a go kart. 2 cycle engines are known to produce more revs per minute than 4 cycle engines but they do have a problem when it comes to torque. Basically speaking, torque is the ability to twist and 2 cycle 50cc engines may just lack enough of this ability if too much weight is required to move. That said, for younger people or smaller people that don’t weigh too much, a 2 cycle Honda engine might just pull it off.

50cc engines can be found in a lot of mechanical appliances. Chainsaws and weed eaters are powered up by these type of engines. The good thing about them is that they are generally cheap and you can turn them around or put them in any position you want. Another positive point that these engines bring up is that they’re air cooled and don’t require any cooling liquid, but on the other side they require a mixture of both gasoline and oil to keep them working in a smooth fashion. So if you happen to have an old Honda elite scooter you can think about adapting its motor to a go kart as long as things are kept very light weighted.
