Settting up transmissions for small engines is all about creativity |

:: transmissions for small engines :: There are various ways you can go about setting up transmissions for small engines. Small engine transmissions, also known as “the drive” is the mechanism that transmits power from the engine’s crankshaft to the wheels. The only limiting factor for any type of transmission is one’s own mechanical knowledge and creativity. Depending on how much work you’re willing to invest on your small engine, you can plan to set up the transmission you need. The simplest way of accomplishing this is by connecting the crankshaft directly to the rear axle. This is the least efficient of all transmissions because it gives smaller torque returns per crankshaft revolution. Any type of transmission is constructed by pulleys and belts or sprockets and drive chains. Pulleys and belts are usually used for fun karts or hobbyists’ projects. For racing and off-road purposes chains and sprockets are way much more efficient.
